Goalie gets called out in a game where dumb penalties and bad penalty killing lost the game. not to mention a powerless powerplay. . . and Richards, Stoll, Muzzyn, Martinez and Doughty don't get called out?

ok - Fast forward,

First unit steps up, some soft goals go in and some great saves are made,
More bad defense, Regher goes down, call up Jeff Schutlz?

Because we need more bigger slower defensemen to get burned and mishandle the puck.

What the actual Fl_lCK?

Jason Lewis: The Real Reason Sutter Was Calling out Quick

How many times has Quick bailed the Kings out not only this year but 2012. Spot on, on this thread Jason. Sutter knows how everyone on this team has each others back. This was a wake up call for the leadership of this team and the team as a whole. Sutter knows there's no Willie Mitchell and Slava Voynov. It's a different "D" Quick, even in last nights game was average but huge when he needed to be!

Uhh, what?

Name me a contracted, non-roster defenseman that brings what Regehr does to the lineup better than Jeff Schultz. We need someone that plays solid defense, plays ample minutes, and takes PK time away from Drew Doughty, so he can play more minutes at 5v5 and on the PP. Schultz was called up in the same exact situation last April for the Ducks series and the Kings now have a 2nd Stanley Cup in the trophy case.

Would you rather have McBain in there, who isn't really known for his play on the defensive side of the puck, and who averaged more than 7 minutes fewer than Regehr in his few appearances earlier this season? Sutter obviously doesn't trust him since he'd rather play Doughty for 35 minutes a game than give McBain more than 10 minutes of ice time.

Jeff Schultz is exactly what the defense needs right now.

The choices to replace Regehr are Forbort, LoVerde, and Schultz. He is the best option of the three, as the other two are young and unproven, even though they may be better than Schultz. Ultimately the Kings are fighting to stay in the playoff hunt and they can't take the risk of inserting a guy like Forbort or LoVerde mid year. Schultz has proven he can do it. So. Why not?

He is exactly what the D needs at the moment.

I personally don't think he is all that awesome at the capacity you put him at. but I am willing to wait and have case examples to point out when he gets some games in, then gets pylon'd and causes goals. I hope he doesn't, but he is big and slow and we need less of that. What we need on D is medium size/weight, tough on the boards playing the body, smart coverage, faster than Rheger, Greene and Mcnaab.

I would like to see Colin Miller, or Ebert personally , don't care if they are rookies, they have the stuff.

watch him get smoked like a blunt, and you will change your tune.

Aside from the money issue of calling up Miller or Ebert (they have two-way contracts, meaning the Kings would have to pay them 10x their current AHL salary to call them up), both of the guys you mentioned are offensive-minded forwards. Neither of them have the experience or skillset to play solid PK and shutdown minutes.

Junior and minor league success do not translate into NHL success. Experience is preferable to raw talent at this juncture, and Schultz has several years and several hundred NHL games under his belt. I would go so far as to say that even McBain would be preferable to Miller or Ebert.

Schultz played big minutes against two of the most dynamic offenses in the league last spring (more than Regehr, Martinez, & Greene), and didn't "get smoked like a blunt." He actually played really well during his 7-game stand-in.

If he does then so be it. Time for the other boys to step in. Schultz deserves a chance. He has been the Narchs best D-man this season.

Not to mention that Shultz has to want nothing more than another shot at the big show. He was solid last appearance and will want nothing more than to showcase his skills for future consideration. Its a no brainer in my opinion.
On another note JL.......I want to request an occasional post game blog ....something short is fine.....after the blues game I really wanted to share some thoughts with some other kings fans here and the current Kings blog was pretty old and most likely not closely followed. Maybe just after emotional wins/losses like that game
